Converting your Facebook profile into a Fan Page

Facebook has finally developed a new tool that allows users to convert their personal profile into a Facebook Fan Page. The difference between the two profiles is that users can  “like” a Fan Page while they must “add as a friend” on a personal profile.  Personal profiles also have a 5,000 friend limit which is not the case on a Fan page.

Please be aware when you migrate your friends will become fans but none of your additional information will come across.  I have included step by step instructions to migrate and also download all your profile information please see below:

When you convert your profile to a Facebook Page, your profile pictures will be transferred and all of your friends will be added as people who like your page.

No other content will be carried over to your new page, so be sure to save any important content before beginning your migration.

To avoid losing important content, we recommend taking these steps before you convert your profile:

1. Download your profile information. You can download a file that contains all of your sent and received messages and all of the photos and videos you’ve uploaded to Facebook.
2. Appoint a new group admin or a new Facebook Page admin to any groups or pages that you manage. The account you’re converting will lose these admin rights during the conversion process.
