Google Places – FREE Online Tool
August 26th, 2010 by SuzanneGoogle places is another great FREE online tool that helps promote your business. Most of us are already using Google Place pages for our business. If you are not using it as yet maybe it is something you need to consider. If you are using it, are you using it to its full potential?
Google places not only allows you to plot your business location but it also allows you to give a little bit more information about your business or service in order to entice customers! You can include a business description, photographs, business opening hours, contact information and a link back to your website. You can also categorise your business to aid your chances of being returned on search. If you have YouTube videos associated with your company up to 5 of these may be uploaded to your listing at any time.
Google collects data about your business, such as reviews from various other websites and combines this information with what you enter on your Google Place page.
Posting to your Google Place page
There is an option to post to your Google place page. This is generally used for special offers, upcoming events or perhaps event a new product or service you may be offering.
Each post is valid for 30 days and may contain 160 characters so chose your words wisely and also remember to optimise! At the moment a place page will only show one post at a time. If you create a new post, this will replace the existing post on your page. So… how do you post to your place page? It’s simple!
Log into your Google Place page and click on number link underneath impressions or underneath actions.
Go to the top right of the page and you will see a text box, insert your post here.
Please bear in mind that it may take a few minutes before this post is visible on your listing.
Coupons
Everybody loves a discount or special offer. You can utilise this to attract new customers by creating a coupon on your Google place page, again the best part… it’s FREE!
To create a coupon, log into your Google Place page, click on the coupons tab at the top of the page beside Dashboard.
Click on the ‘Add Coupon now’ button at the bottom of the page. Again there are character restrictions, so think wisely when creating your coupon. Each coupon will allow you add an image, an expiry date and an offer code.
Visitors to your Google page can then print off this coupon and produce it at your place of business when making a purchase.
As with the posting it may take a few minutes before the coupon is visible on your listing.
