No news is good news

July 28th, 2008 by Maggie

Had my attention drawn this morning  to an Associated Press Report by the rather addictive New Thinking newsletter from Gerry McGovern. He points out that news is a turnoff unless it is ‘news you can use’.  Good point. Thankfully we get fewer and fewer requests from clients to put general news feeds on websites. As one of my favourite Estonian web developers once pointed out in a training session (with the level of distain that only a 20+ cool guy at the top of his trade can muster)  ‘ that’s so very 1990′s’. Yet timely and regularly changing info on the home page cuts the mustard with Google and can work for clients. So what to do.  Time to add thoughts on this to The Knowledge area – but lets get more ideas from the bloggers please!

A BNI Morning

July 27th, 2008 by Maggie

Blown away at my morning BNI Cilldara meeting by simple marketing concepts presented by Finbarr Malone and made four resolutions for sharpening up our marketing:

  1. Blow away our prospects and clients at every stage of the process by providing more than they expect
  2. Add more perceived value at every stage of the process
  3. Work up our clients’ enthusiastic testimonials and case studies – during the fat time we tended to ignore these as a resource
  4. Try try and try again – most sales apparently close after 7 contacts – most sales people give up after 4

Mention this blog and Finbarr will give you 4 more profit making suggestions too. Want to visit a BNI Chapter? Check out www.bni.eu and go to the Ireland section
